Some of my favorite things

03.11.2019

I use to read like it was going out of style. I loved it, and could pick up a book and finish it in a day, no problem. When I had the girls, I put reading on the back burner and then pretty much quit reading all together. Last year, I set a goal to read 5 books, which isn’t a lot but I did it. Any other mamas out there struggling to read or do things that you use to really love, but now you can’t find the time for it. I made reading priority again last year, because it was something that I loved and missed so badly. So, I wanted to share the books I read last year, and a few that I have on my radar for this year!

Decapolis: Book One of The Krilisian Saga: My best friend is an author, she edits all my blog post lol, except this one because I’ve had the most insane, not planned, crazy week. LOL- I actually read this first, on printed copier paper which makes me feel a little special, but seriously-great book! I love the characters. Nyla is my hero and I want to be her. Isn’t it awesome when you put yourself in the main characters perspective? That’s exactly what I did with this book and Nyla. (All the books are linked, so you can click the titles to get the author’s summery- book reviews are not my forte.)

Reedeming Love: This book is huge and I read it in a total of 7 days, if that tells you anything. It’s so sweet, it’s based off one of the books in the Bible called Hosea. I think it’s definitely an older book, because I was able to find it at the library but so worth the time to read it.

Present Over Perfect: This is one of those books that kind of turns your whole world upside down and it’s like a friend giving you a gentle shake and saying, life doesn’t have to be so hard. I LOVED it. I was folding down pages, underlining, circling sentences. It was that good.

Something’s in the WaterThe Shack: I’m pretty sure everyone and their brother has already read this, but I hadn’t and I’m so glad I did. If you’re like me and didn’t jump on the bandwagon when this book came out, do it now! This book made me think of God in ways I never had before, and it’s so well written. The story blew my mind, and I almost stopped reading it because it’s about a little girl getting abducted and that’s one of my WORSE fears- but the awesome people in my lifegroup urged me to keep reading. So glad I did.

Dave Ramsey’s-Total Money Make-over: Dolla Dolla bills y’all. I also just realized I read 6 books last year. LOL, go me! But this book was really eye opening, and my favorite line from the whole book is, “Live like no one else is living, so later you can live like no one else is living.” Seriously, worth a read and will get your butt into gear about saving money.

This year I only have a few books on my radar but I would love y’alls recommendations, please tell me in the comments below. As you can tell I read a little bit of everything. Here’s my list for 2019 so far. Right now, I’m reading, “Girl, wash your face.” And I’m loving it!!

Here’s a list of the books I’m looking forward to reading

Preach to yourself

FerVert: A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer

Girl, Stop Apologizing

Tell me what you’re reading right now, and books I should put on my list this year. I’m hoping to read at least 10!

A friend of mine keeps telling me to read redeeming love! I may just have to. But I have like 3 books I’m trying to read right now and struggling to even get through those!
