I decided to do an introduction for my new followers on Instagram today. (heyyyy and thank you if you made your way here!) I kept making my caption way to long, so I thought it would make sense to post for those who might want more of a backstory.
My reasoning behind starting a blog is pretty generic. I became a stay at home mom last year and wanted a project for myself. I soon learned that that taking self portraits can be a lot harder than one would think. Awkward much? Hence, this is why my posting has been so sporadic, because I know what I’m looking for but haven’t quite gotten there yet. I’m basically the queen of awkward…so put me in front of a camera with a automatic remote and it’s just embarrassing and even more hilarious. We have to laugh at ourselves, right? I mean….what is that face? Not sure, but it made me laugh.
And what’s even more challenging is learning how to focus your camera, when you are in front of it. I am still learning. On a positive note- if anything it has helped with my photography skills! I’m pretty decent with a camera and doing these trial and error shots has improved the moments I’m behind the lens. I took the first and last pictures with my phone, and the quality just isn’t what I’m looking for. I used my DSLR for the image below but had so many unfocused pictures. It can be so frustrating, but practice makes perfect.
At my previous job we had to take an “instinctual/personality test, and my results were “quick start”, which means I kind of jump into things without really putting a ton of research and thought into it. I honestly thought the results were wrong, but now looking back without a doubt I am a quick start.
For the most part, I’m still just exploring and testing the waters of the blogging world. I’m not exactly sure what my “niche” is, because I started thinking it would help me want to read my bible and at first it did. Then I realized that I want that to be more personal, then Lord knows I’m not a parenting expert but I do love being able to make light of the harder parts of motherhood which inspired the “humbling” bee. And I have always love fashion magazines and basically anything to do with style, but I’m not sure if a fashion blog is really the right direction for me though.
For the time being, I’m going to keep working with my camera and hopefully along the way find a direction in which I want to go.
If anyone has tips or ideas I’d love to hear them. Life’s all about growing and improving and we can embrace the moments when we aren’t exactly where we want to be and be thankful for what it is teaching us.
